Orijen and ACANA are both super premium brands manufactured by Champion Pet Foods in Kentucky. While both brands offer meat-rich diets, each has their unique offerings depending on what your pet needs. Orijen has the highest meat content, with between 80-90% of the bag consisting of whole prey animal ingredients. Orijen recipes also offers some of the highest protein, fat, and calories per cup in a dry food. This means that it is great for high energy dogs, or feeding less volume of food for the average dog per day (which also usually means less waste in the yard). ACANA tries to offer a balance between high meat content and price point. The average meat content per bag in this brand ranges from 60-65% (not including classics). For customers who want a food with higher than average meat content, but don't want to pay over $100 for a bag of Orijen, than ACANA has a wide selection of recipes to choose from. ACANA also offers several limited ingredient formulas for dogs with sensitivities.
